This UNESCO-listed world heritage site holds on its flat plateau the remnants of a marvelous empire shrouded in dark history, owing to its ruler, King Kashyapa (477 - 495 CE). The Golden Rock Temple of Dambulla will surely leave you speechless - the reason being the location of this temple and what might have gone into the creation of such a structure.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Ayubowan!

Arrival at Colombo International Airport. You will be greeted by a guide/chauffeur who will transfer you to Negambo for an overnight stay at a luxurious hotel of your choice.

Day 2 - Anuradhapura to Yapahuwa

Enjoy breakfast options at the hotel after which you will depart to Anuradhapura; one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sri Lankan civilization. En route you will visit Yapahuwa; one of the ephemeral capitals of medieval Sri Lanka. Rest your feet at an overnight stay at your hotel in Anuradhapura.

Day 3 - Mihintale

Rise early and enjoy a continental breakfast. You will be shown around Anuradhapura and its wonders in a morning sightseeing tour followed by a visit to Minhintale; a mountain peaked believed to be the origin of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, in the afternoon. Afterwards you will head to Habarana, checked in to a hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4 - Sigirya to Polonnaruwa

Have a plentiful breakfast as an energetic day is to be followed. You will visit Sigiriya; ancient rock fortress a UNESCO listed world heritage site. In the afternoon you will visit Polonnaruwa for sightseeing. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993 AD. You will be transferred back to your hotel in Habarana for a night’s sleep.

Day 5 - Kandy via Dambulla

Enjoy a hefty breakfast at your hotel. You will then leave for Kandy, en route where you’ll visit Dambulla; also known as the Golden Rock Temple of Dambulla, a world heritage site in Sri Lanka. Afterwards you will visit the Spice Garden in Matale; to see many different types of spices Sri Lanka is famous for. In the evening you will be able to witness a cultural dance and then a visit to the sacred Temple of Tooth Relic, followed by an overnight in Kandy.

Day 6 - Botanical Gardens and Temples

Enjoy a delicious breakfast spread. You will visit the beautiful Botanical Gardens, and afterwards visit the Gadaladeniya Temple; ancient Buddhist temple, Ambekka, and Lankathilaka Temple. Spend the rest of your evening in peace with an overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 7 - Tea Country Hills

After an ample breakfast you will leave for Nuwaraeliya; a city in the tea country hills of central Sri Lanka. You will enjoy an informative visit to the Tea Factory to learn about the tea making process. Spend the rest of the day and night at leisure in Nuwaraeliya.

Day 8 - Bentota Beaches

After breakfast you will leave for Bentota; a coastal town in Sri Lanka. You can spend your day at the beach to your heart’s content, enjoying the golden sand and the blue waters.
